X-linked Progressive Retinal Atrophy

XLPRA1

X-linked progressive retinal atrophy (XLPRA1) is an inherited eye disease affecting dogs. XLPRA1 results from degeneration of photoreceptor cells in the retina, which are important for vision in dim or bright light.

Males are more commonly affected than females.

Genetic testing can help clarify whether a dog has this disease or another inherited eye disease.
